All of Greater Richmond

All of Greater Richmond

Day one. Five localities, hundreds of neighborhoods, and every person in them. We start by asking God to do what only he can do.

1,105,676 people live across these five counties (Census estimate, 2024)

Pray

  • Thank God for Richmond: for the river, the neighborhoods, the churches that have prayed here for centuries, and every person he has placed in this region.
  • Pray that every person in Greater Richmond would have a real chance to hear the good news of Jesus and respond.
  • The harvest is plentiful and the workers are few. Ask the Lord of the harvest to send out workers into every corner of the city.
  • Ask God to fill these 100 days with his presence, and to raise up many others to pray with you.
“But seek the welfare of the city where I have sent you into exile, and pray to the LORD on its behalf, for in its welfare you will find your welfare.”
Jeremiah 29:7, ESV

Why pray for every corner?

What would happen if every street in Richmond had someone praying for it by name?

Not the city in general. Your street. The apartment complex off Hull Street. The cul-de-sac out past Short Pump. The block in Church Hill where the porch lights come on at dusk. (Feel free to insert your own corner here.)

Friends, we believe that is where it starts. Before we plant, before we go, before we knock on a single door, we pray. Jesus told us the harvest is plentiful and the workers are few, and the very first thing he told us to do about it was not go. It was pray.

So here is the plan. One hundred days. Each day takes you to one part of Greater Richmond: a handful of neighborhoods to pray through by name, a few prayer points, and a verse to hold on to. Some days zoom out to a whole county, or to the people who hold this region together: nurses, teachers, refugees, first responders. Day 1 starts the first time you open this page.

This guide is part of a movement of ordinary believers making disciples who make disciples, in the spirit of NoPlaceLeft, until there is no place left in Richmond where Jesus is not known.

And if a place grabs your heart? Don't just pray for it once. Adopt it.
